Report on Child Victims of Federally Sentenced Offenders: A Profile of Victims and Perpetrators

Building on previous research (Gobeil, Barnum, Euchi, 2012), and including both registered and non-registered victims with the National Victim Service Program (NVSP) at CSC, the present study was launched to examine the characteristics of offenders who have perpetrated a crime against a child, as well as to provide information on child victims of federally sentenced offenders relating to the crimes perpetrated against them, the victimization methods used (e.g., abuse of power, weapons, threats), and the physical and psychological harm caused.

La présente étude, qui s’appuie sur des recherches antérieures (Gobeil, Barnum, Euchi, 2012) et qui vise les victimes inscrites et non inscrites au Programme national des services aux victimes (PNSV) du Service correctionnel du Canada (SCC), a été lancée pour examiner les caractéristiques des délinquants qui ont commis une infraction contre un enfant, et aussi pour fournir de l’information au sujet des enfants victimes de délinquants purgeant une peine de ressort fédéral en ce qui a trait aux infractions commises contre eux, aux méthodes de victimisation employées (p. ex. abus de pouvoir, armes, menaces) et aux préjudices physiques et psychologiques qu’ils ont subis.
